Eight years ago, in 2013, I wrote an undergraduate thesis entitled ‘Prime Numbers and the Riemann Zeta Function’. About three years later, I published a condensed version as an article on Medium, entitled ‘The Riemann Hypothesis, explained’. That article was later picked up on Hacker News, where it ended up on the front page. Because of that exposure, the article eventually became one of the top Google results for the search term ‘The Riemann Hypothesis’. When Michael Atiyah (1929-2019) later claimed to have solved the RH, the magazine Science contacted me to comment on this claim (probably because the journalist searched ‘The Riemann Hypothesis’ and found my article). My statements from the article that journalist wrote eventually ended up in news outlets around the world (including The Times, USA Today, the New York Post and many others).
